The editorial purpose
This independent media project is built for readers who want more than an impressive image or a large award number. Its purpose is to make defense developments understandable without losing their complexity.
THE BACKLOG carries that purpose into a briefing format: what changed, why it matters, and what to watch. The reference library develops the background knowledge needed to read the next announcement well.
Evidence before emphasis
Primary documents are the starting point: acquisition notices, program material, public filings, government reports, and the original source of visual media. Corporate claims are attributed to the company making them.
Reporting, analysis, and reference explainers are labeled. Estimates retain their qualifications. Uncertainty is stated directly. A contract ceiling is never described as cash received, and a future option is never described as an order already placed.
Corrections and visual context
Material errors will be corrected on the affected page with an explanation of the change. A correction inquiry should identify the page, the disputed statement, and a public source that supports the proposed correction.
Media credits preserve the originating source, creator where supplied, and recorded event context. Archival footage does not become current footage through editing. Editorial design and illustrations are not represented as documentary evidence.
